Garbage Cans Don’t Count as Decorations

Garbage cans should be stored inside your garage. The only time garbage cans should be visible outdoors is on garbage day.

Owners have until sunrise the morning after garbage collection day to bring in their garbage and recycling bins.

From Friday morning until Wednesday evening the bins should be stored away indoors. Your backyard or the side of your home does not count as indoors.

The reason for this rule is that no one likes looking at garbage bins, first of all. They’re not exactly a beautifying element to a property. In addition, they tend to get blown around, get lost, and sometimes even tip over and spill, especially on windy days.

The first time a stray garbage can comes to the board’s attention we’ll send a warning. After that we may have to escalate to fines.

If you’re in a situation where you work odd hours and need a little extra time to take in your garbage bins after it’s been collected just let the board know and it shouldn’t be a problem. Storage, on the other hand, is not something we are likely to make any exceptions for so please be sure to keep your bins hidden.
