Message from the outgoing president
Last night was our second quarter meeting of the year. I’d like to provide a quick summary and also give everyone some news you may have missed if you weren’t there.
We are close to being able to hire new landscapers.
Gutter cleaners are coming later this month but are on their way
We will be fixing potholes this year and plan to have private drives resurfaced over a two year period
Painting and trim (which includes all windows, garage trim, and front porch areas) will be done this summer. We are waiting for an exact date from our vendor
In addition, I (Bill) and resigning the board effective June 22nd. As much as I’d like to stay it was just the right time for my family and I. I’m proud of the way we’ve worked together as a board to increase our reserves, create clear lines of communication, and keep our promise of providing new roofs to everyone at no out of pocket cost to any owner.
We appointed a new member, Debbie P, who is effectively on the board now and will be after I depart. Although my resignation is effective the 22nd of June I will still live here until June 30th so the transition will be smooth and there will be a week where I am no longer a board member but available to help with any last minute questions and tie up loose ends
Elections for board positions happen in October or November of this year. The current board, including our new member, are all good, honest people looking out for everyone’s interest and we have and they will continue to work together well. However, HOA boards tend to attract people with strong, sometimes bullying personalities that tend to take over and make these boards less democratic. Be careful if you see any red flags and be sure to vote for your interests, not the person who talks loudest and promises the most. The right thing to do is often the most boring and requires patience. That said, the association should have full confidence in the current lineup of the board after my departure. Our transition plan ensures things will continue to work more or less how they do now.
I really am proud of this board and its accomplishments and I know they’ll continue on doing the great work we started together regardless of whether I’m here or not. Thank you all for trusting me in this position for so long and you’ll be in good hands in the future.
